First Week 2011

Wow - we're a week into 2011 already!  We were blessed to be able to spend the New Year with (new) friends in Wanganui.  We stayed at a cottage on their life-style block and it was a very very wonderful break.  They had chickens which the boys got to bring their bread scraps to each morning, Bryn especially enjoyed this, along with a duckling and the day we left they had found a pea-hen chick in the paddock also.  We visited the Wanganui Reformed Church on Sunday and had some nice fellowship there.  On Monday we caught up with Wouter's old boss and their family before travelling home.  All in all, the kids travelled pretty well.  Melinda did decided that weekend would be a good one to cut her first molar on, so that made a couple of hairy nights, but such is life.  Melinda got the hang of walking over the weekend and also going up and down small stairs, so that was exciting for her.

This week has been getting back into routine.  I snuck the pictures of the boys playing from the laundry window.  They had taken my broom and brush and shovel outside and were busy 'doing jobs Mama'.  Right now they're occupied with two balloons, I'm just waiting for one to pop.  Earlier in the week we read about Jesus telling Simon Peter to get the tax money out of the fish's mouth, so during craft time we made fish complete with a piece of money in it's mouth (old 5 cent coin). 

So ... what is on the cards for this year?  We're still job hunting, trying to wait with faith and patience.  We're excitedly looking forward to meeting 'dot' sometime early May D.V.  I'm planning on lots of knitting, including a jersey for Wouter and a shrug for myself.  I have finished the front for Wouter's jersey (in picture), it is knitted in super bulky on size 13mm needles, so doesn't take too long.  My shrug will be lace wieght (2ply) so that will be another new challenge.  New born cardi's, vests and a dress for Melinda are also in the plan.  The sewing machine will hopefully see the light of day as i need to make up a quilt for the baby (have made one for all the others, so have to keep it up, only bassinette size though).  I'm looking forward to growing with my husband and children, growing in the LORD and growing our family right.

Well ... i can smell the bread baking and hear a little boy helping himself to some water so better go and suss it out.
