Saturday

Hello peoples ...
Today the weather was nice and clear ... we took off this morning to the farmers market. Unfortunately it wasn't that great because it is winter so not much in the way of fruit and vege to buy. Next we decided to visit my parents, and we were just on time. Mum had fresh baking and bread, so we invited ourselves for lunch as well. We grabbed the digital camera before we went out, so took a few photos from around the place. They are about fifteen-twenty minutes out of town, and if you walk down the drive you can walk to the river. That river has provided a nice amount of firewood for us this year. Dad built the house and sheds himself, and is in the process of doing up or getting rid of the landrovers you see around the place.

Hope you're all doing good ... thanks so much family in Holland for the emails ... I hope to send some cards via snail mail this week, so watch your mailboxes ...

Hello

Greetings,
We have had a wonderful week weather wise ... warmed up a little, although we still have had the fire on.
Today I went to Palmerston North with Karin and her two kiddies, was alot of fun. We had my scan first, and bubs is doing really well, weighing in at 1.3kgs, or 2lb9oz. Managed to have the self control not to ask, so when at the baby shop (which had a huge sale) just got one uni-sex outfit

Not much else happening ... think it'll be a quiet weekend for us after a busy week.

Back to School

Well, week one back at school is over ... another 9 to go :) Wouter has been busy with work again this week. He has been fencing, fencing and oh, some more fencing. The farm is very wet and boggy, but hopefully this coming week we will have a little warmth to help the grass grow somewhat.

My students at school are busy with creative writing ... will keep them occupied for a couple of weeks.

On the baby front ... everyone keeps telling me I've just 'popped out' and that I'm looking more pregnant than fat :) So I have made a photobucket remix showing belly shots intertwined with baby stuff from five weeks till 26 weeks (which was last Thursday) so you can see for yourself. We have another scan next week, so that'll be nice to see the little person again. He or she is getting quite active now, usually when I"m lying on my back or sitting at my desk at school. A cold drink also seems to wake the wee monkey up.

Paintings

I finished my set of paintings!! Yahoo!! Wouter is back at work today after three extra days off due to the flu. We're both still sniffly and snotty and have coughs, but guess that will go eventually. Thanks for all the wonderful comments ... feel very loved ... keep it up!!

Holidays

Wow - July already. Today the sun is shining after a cracker frost. Wouter and I left for a small holiday on Wednesday morning. The plan was to go to Napier for a night, then Taupo and then New Plymouth.

We had a lovely day window shopping in Hastings and Napier. In the evening we relaxed at the motel. The next day we drove to Taupo. It rained most of the drive, but when we arrived the rain cleared enough for us to visit Oraki Koreko - a thermal area just outside of Taupo. The following video clips are from that.

I have also created a monatge (sorry had to delete the other one to make a new one) from that walk - this also has a few photos at the end from Mount Ruapehu which was cuaght a glimpse of on the drive home.

The night out in Taupo was amazing, we went to this wonderful restaurant which was quite posh. Even more amazing was the entree - prawn tails in a red thai curry sauce . I managed to eat all three courses, which was another change. Usually I manage a main and that's all. I had a chicken dish while Wouter stuck to steak. We shared the apple turnover for dessert.

However ... by the next morning we decided to head back home considering my cough and sore throat were past baring with. So for the past couple of days Wouter has been playing nurse to me as I've been tucked up in bed with a temperature, cough and snotty nose. Today I am feeling alot better, still a bit drained. We are expecting Wouter to come down with it if past experiences are anything to go buy, so I can look after him then. I guess that is one of the joys of being a teacher, you get all the kids bugs during the holidays.

I have also been doing some patchwork - this is my first attempt, although I will make another similar one for the baby's bassinet. I had alot of fun doing this - although it will be an expensive hobby to continue.

It isn't finished on the edging yet, but you can probably get the idea. My paintings are still going well ... have finished the outlines for another four, but haven't done the color yet. Will post photos once done.

As far as we know the baby is doing well. I am feeling him/her move pretty regularly now, although Wouter still hasn't managed to feel it (shy baby). We have another scan in two weeks time, so should be able to post more pictures then. We are 24w and 3days now, so time is ticking along. Wouter has promised to take a photo of the bump soon so you can see 'how fat I've got' - in his words.

Please remember to post a comment or email us - just so we know you're all reading this. Luv you all lots.
