Nappy Time

Hello everyone,
Well, the week back at school has gone ok. Only three days this week as we had ANZAC day in the middle. It was a very nice day and Wouter and I had a nice quality time day together since he's been really busy with work lately. I especially enjoyed going out for a couple of hours with him in the morning and moving the stock around (ok, I sat on the back of the bike and opened and closed gates, but it is still helping).

Today has been the usual Friday, with housework first, and then time later to do other stuff. Today my other stuff has been trying to make a cloth nappy. I got the pattern off the internet, and considering these cost about $25-30 to buy new, pricing it out, not including my time is about $8 per nappy, which is considerably cheaper. So, on Thursday I went to our fabric shop and got some reasonably uni-sex flannelet. Can't have a boy swanning around in pink nappies now can we??

The end result has turned out pretty good for a first attempt. There are few things I need to do different next time, mainly the leg elastic. But, I tried it on our neighbors newborn, and it looks like it'll fit reasonably well. So, go cloth nappies!!

Wouter at work

I got to tag along at lunch time today and help Wouter move a few bull calves down the road and into a new paddock. This meant that I got to drive the bike and make sure the calves turned in the right direction .... not to exciting, but I love helping him. We had a light frost here this morning, so it was very cold when we got up, but on the other side of the coin, it means that today has been absolutely beautiful and sunny. Probably about 21 degree Celsius.

It is hard to believe that my holidays are coming to a fast end. Although being at school will make the time pass nice and fast. I have had a very quiet holiday, and this afternoon hope to work on my scrapbook some more. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Introducing baby Smit

Hi Everyone!! We have some scan photos for you to look at -hopefully you can see the baby and its face, tinsy arms and it has its legs crossed, so that isn't that clear.

I'm getting excited

Hello everyone,
Special hello to Maria, Ben and KellyAnne (you're my best response people!!)

I've been out and about buying some stuff already, trying not to get ahead of myself, but I'm super excited. Yesterday went to the material shop and bought some toweling to back an older flanneltte sheet we had, so I am making baby wipes today. Lots of fun, after I figured out how to work the sewing machine. The bouncer I won off TM also arrived in the mail ... first semi big item (all the rest I am under instructions to leave till at least next school holidays, fair enough). The first photo is the start of my collection, the multi colored blanket is the one that my Mum made for me when I was a baby the two jerseys are the ones I knitted for our first m/c bubs ... no more buying and making for now ... time enough for that later.







I will start deleting photos from earlier posts once I have too many on here ... Bummer it isn't unlimited ...

Good news

Hi peoples,
We had an ultrasound scan on Friday the 13th of April, and it revealed that we have one baby inside, with a strong heartbeat and a good size, actually measuring a little ahead of my dates, so I've created one in the middle. EDD for baby is the 26th of October, which makes us 12w1d pregnant right now!!
We are very excited about it, and will start sharing the news with the extended church family once I've told my work in a weeks time. We are also a big nervous - given past experiences, so please keep us in your prayers. We will post a scan picture as soon as i get into work and figure out how to work the scanner.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend is well and truly over ... but we had a great time. The weather was awesome. Here are some pictures from our fishing trip to Lake Ferry on Good Friday, along with one of Wouter with our youngest farm dog, Missy.

Wouter the Butcher

We had a couple of lambs from 2005 that were bought up by us, and then reared in a home paddock. These were killed late 2006 by Wouter. Photos courtesy of Paul! Honestly, home-killed meat just tastes so much better than stuff from the super-market. There is no comparison.

Pictures of our house. WE have had wonderful weather like this for most of the year so far ... but it won't be long before winter comes around.
